Updated October 5, 2026. This notice covers the Commonleaf iPhone app, Chrome extension, and account and capture services.
Your saved books, edits, images, and covers stay on your device. Commonleaf does not sync your library between devices.
Local PDF conversion and EPUB creation run on your device. Exported copies use the destination you choose.
Commonleaf uses Supabase to process account sign-in and recovery. The service stores your account identifier and email address.
Apple and Stripe process purchases through their own services. Commonleaf verifies subscription records to enable access on your devices.
Those records include account and transaction identifiers, the plan, purchase environment, and access dates. Commonleaf does not receive your full card number from Apple or Stripe.
Original Apple purchase ownership is retained after account deletion to prevent reassignment to another account. Local sign-out does not cancel a subscription.
Hosted X capture sends the article link to the server. The server fetches its text and images and returns a downloadable bundle.
Commonleaf keeps hosted captures and images in private temporary storage for 24 hours so you can retry a download.
Only your signed-in account with an active Commonleaf Pro subscription can download that result.
Downloads stop when the 24-hour window ends. Scheduled cleanup removes expired files.
Capture records include your account identifier, operation identifier, normalized source link, attempts, duration, size, and outcome.
Capture logs exclude article text and account credentials.
Vercel hosts the service. Supabase stores accounts, subscription records, and temporary captures. Linear stores feedback sent through the feedback form.
These services process data to run Commonleaf, provide support, and protect accounts. Commonleaf does not sell your data or use advertising trackers.
Account records stay until you delete your account. Purchase ownership and necessary payment records may remain for fraud prevention and recordkeeping.
Capture operation records and feedback remain for support and troubleshooting. Contact us to request deletion of those records.
Submitted feedback goes to the Commonleaf team's private issue tracker. Do not include passwords, payment details, or private book content.
You can delete your Commonleaf account from Account & subscription. This does not cancel billing through Apple or Stripe.
You can sign out without deleting local books. Deleting a book removes the local copy; copies exported elsewhere remain separate.
Use the feedback form for account or privacy questions.
